About Me

Welcome! My name is Bethany. I’m a multi-genre singer, voice teacher, program creator, non-profit fundraiser and event planner in the Austin, TX area. I am originally from Jackson, MS, but have lived in central France and New York City. I love connecting people, providing safe spaces for people to learn, and empowering people to use their voices for good. I’ve been in Austin since 2017, after living in NYC for 6 years. I moved to New York for graduate school at the Manhattan School of Music, a conservatory on the upper west side where I obtained a master’s degree in voice (MM). I taught voice, performed, worked on several performing groups’ administrative teams, as well as working in administration in financial services full time. My husband and I moved to Austin in 2017 for his PhD program at the University of Texas. I moved without lining up a formal job, and am so glad I did! I gave myself the opportunity to network in the music and nonprofit community in Central Texas. I started teaching in schools (Redeemer Lutheran and West Ridge Middle), added a church gig (First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin), and added a staff/faculty position at Armstrong Community Music School to my duties. As a performer, I’ve enjoyed appearing on stage in many operas, in recital, and with several choral organizations as a chorister and soloist. Over the past 15 years, I’ve helped organizations fundraise, planned events big and small, written curriculum and managed programs, and provided strong administrative skills to help ensure the stability of music organizations and music education in 3 states. I continue to provide mentoring to colleagues and students, teach a variety of ages, while also seeking out meaningful and intentional performing opportunities. Thank you for stopping by my page where you’ll find my formal bio, recordings of some performances, information on how to hire me as a teacher, and my portfolio of some of the administrative work I’ve accumulated.
